Sketchy Thursdays

Diana is on the DT with me for Who's That Girl. She runs a sketch site named Sketchy Thursdays. There is a new sketch put up every Thursday and then other challenges along the way. I have played along a few times but its been a while.

Here is the sketch

This was the 1st time ever that I cut a piece of my Jenni Bowlin shaped paper. I felt horrible about it, guilty almost - I think the hoarder in me wanted to even cry!

I used Kraft Bazzill, Jenni Bowlin Red Cream Vintage Paper, Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Raven, Maya Road Chipboard Ric Rac, Robin's Nest Dew Drops, and Black Acrylic Paint. Letters are Black Fabric Thickers.

Super Bowl Sunday

Nope, I am not a follower of football...at all. The extent of my football knowledge is Payton is cuter than Ely and for the sake of listening to the same story over and over or listening to "who dat" 12 million times on Monday and Tuesday from the girl in the office from Louisiana...may the Colts win.

I have been very scrappy these past few days but I am going to reveal my layouts over the next few days! How mean is that? :)

Up today I have my layout from The Everyday Scrapper that is based on a sketch by Bo Bunny.

I used Black Bazzill, Scenic Route Garden Grove "Joy Street" and "Hope Street", Maya Road journal spot, gel pen, and black ink. Letters are Thickers in gray foam.

Daily Journal - Tuesday addition

Here I am a day behind.

Outside my window – Grey skies, drizzling, 60ish degrees and some what okay.

I am thinking – That since it is only Tuesday...it going to be a slow week.

I am thankful for – my health, my girls, my husband and my job.

I am wearing - jeans, lime green polo, tennis shoes and a pony tail...story of my wardrobe.

I am remembering – that I forgot to take something out of dinner this morning. I honestly forgot to take something out.

I am going – to "suggest" that we go out to eat tonight.

I am currently reading - "The Best of Everything" by Rona Jaffe. Its a story about 4 woman in New York back in the 50's with the struggles that they go though making it. It was actually written in 1958 and some of the struggles are what we go through today and some of the things they do...people in the 50's didn't do that - KWIM? I recommend this book to everyone :)

I am hoping – that during Lent this year, I stick to my goal and I see some results.

On my mind – things that I need to do here at work and at home. I can see my next DT layout in my mind.

Noticing that – my work pile just keeps growing no matter how much I work on making it go down still.

Pondering – what this weekend is going to be like. We are going somewhere that we have only been once but never stopped.

From the Kitchen – a cold stove...

Around the house – I need to remember to put the Netflix in the mailbox.

One of my favorite things right now – My new book (see above)

Creative Sunday

I can't believe that is Sunday already. Why does the week drag by and the weekend flies? Its not fair. :(

This weekend I have 2 layouts for you. Who's that Girl and The Everyday Scrapper. Both in general was hard because they were challenging...but challenges are good really it gets you out of your box.

Who's that Girl?
This weeks prompt was to scrap about our name. How you got your name, nick name or any other name related story.

Do I like my name...its okay. Would I have chose it...no. Funny thing is - my mom named me the name that Grandma came up with and it never made a difference in Grandma's eyes how she felt/feels about mom.

I used scrap teal cardstock, Fancy pants Kraft Cuts #424, Cosmo Cricket - Mischievous Max, ink, and Heidi Swapp brads. Letters are Cloud 9 Downtown in cream.

This week for The Everyday Scrapper we used a sketch by My Minds Eye. And the sketch came from their blog challenges #6 for paper flowers. This sketch was hard because when I look at it...all I see are flowers. No there is nothing wrong with flowers but this is a lot of flowers. My deadline on this layout was today and I stared at it for 3 weeks before finally something came to me last night standing in front of the paper racks at Hobby Lobby. Then things started coming into place and I could see the layout in my mind. I didn't start the layout until I could see the whole thing for fear of being stuck halfway. Crazy...I know.

I think I have a pic of all 3 girls in this pose. I am so not sure what is it about this pose that is so attractive to them. Cool? maybe??

I used Diva (bling) and White Bazzill, The Paper Studio (Hobby Lobby) Moire Fleur in Floral, Green Stripe and Small Flowers. Ink, and bling. The butterflies were traced and cut from a Heidi Swapp ghost. I used textured White Bazzill and then sprayed heavily with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in Vanilla Mist. The letters are MM tiny letters and AC Thickers in Black Vinyl.

Since I had a slight mishap yesterday where I ended up on the floor where I hurt my wrist - this is all the scrapping you will see from me for a few days. It hurts to use the scissors and the flex certain ways. I am off to see what happens next in my newest book...more on that later.

Just call me a slacker...

Yes, I am grateful for my job and man oh man...its been hectic lately. Usually the week that leads up to the 25th is Crazy with a capital c and then it falls off after that for 3 weeks to start again but this week when I am supposed to be slow and caught up hasn't been that way...so I have been MIA pretty much everywhere.

I have 3 things that I need to post to be caught up - 2 DT layouts and a post that I did on another blog today. Going by date (you want to see the last part of my blog today - wink, wink)

For Creative Pandemonium this week we were to use the colors blue and yellow along with 3 journal prompts. It wasn't as hard as I thought it would be because I had a piece of PP in my stash that was perfect!

This week was also the 1st week for my guest post on The Everyday Scrapper blog. I thought about my post all week and this is what I came up with. (Everyone is eligible but you have to comment on the blogs post that can be found here not on this blog post.)

My post:
Chipboard Albums…to some the thought of them are “I love them! They are quick, simple, cheap, and stash friendly” and to others they can be intimidating from the time you hold them in your hands still in the package but because you are like most…you had to have it.

I for the record have 7 of these cute little albums in various shapes and sizes. And you guessed it, my name is Carla and I have a fear of chipboard albums. I have high hopes though, I recently ran across a link that might make chipboard albums a little easier for all of us!

Maya Road as you know manufacturers some of the best chipboard in the scrapping world. They have a wonderful website with lots of inspiration and eye candy to drool over but they also offer templates for pretty much every album they make. You can find the link to the templates here.

This is wonderful for me because my exact-o knife skills aren’t great and I usually dig into my chipboard with it and that’s not good. With the templates you can print them out onto the back of your pattered paper or cardstock and then just cut and apply a little Mod Podge or adhesive and you are on your way!

This little house is what I will be working on during this week:
Photobucket

Keep your eye out to see how I do :)

My challenge to you this week is to break out your chipboard albums…chose one and get started on creating your newest masterpiece! Don’t forget, we want to see your creations so we can all ooh & aah and possibly drool too!

To sweeten the pot a little – if you link us up to your blog or mention us when you post your album to your online gallery..I will put your name into a drawing for a $10 gift card to an online store of your choice.

The only 2 rules are: 1 entry per person and you have to comment on this post with the link to your blog or online gallery where we can leave love there as well. Your deadline to enter is Thursday February 4th at midnight CST.

Wednesday Wishes 1.20.10

This week I thought that my wishes would be all scrapbook related. This is my ultimate wish that I am going to share with you...

I have a scrap room that I share with the our home office. Meaning...I am never alone when I scrap - sometimes that is good and sometimes that is bad...but I have a dream. In fact, I have been harboring this dream since at least 2007 when I fell in love with a building I saw at Home Depot and started making plans :)

I want my own little scrap house that sits out behind the house. One like this little house:
Photobucket

...but in light blue with white trim. I want a front porch so that I can have 2 chairs where I can sit and watch the sun set. 2 front windows, a side window on both sides and a front door and back door with lots of windows in them.

Inside I want a light cheery yellow with white trim, crown molding and 2 rooms. I want the main area to be large. My scrap area would the bigger majority of this area but I also want a place where I could have a sitting area with a chaise lounge:
Photobucket

...in cream of course. I would also need a place for a little kitchen area complete with a little refrigerator, sink and table for 2. The second room would be the bathroom.

I want lots of cabinets along the wall for storage and to show off my different trinkets and collectibles. I know that I really want one of these shelves from IKEA - it is the Expedite and it runs around $150.

Photobucket

I would have white cotton eyelet curtains and lots of counter space. I really want a typewriter. I think I would like to have a Royal typewriter like this one:

Photobucket

...but in teal. I want to have an area that I can spread out and scrap sitting down or standing up. Wireless internet, satellite tv and radio, an air conditioner and a small heater for the winter time.

Yes, this does sound like a very large wish and one that will probably never come true. Sure, I will probably get my own room that I don't have to share one day and yes, that room will be yellow with white curtains and storage. I will be okay that it is only a room and not a scrap house.

Creative Pandemonium #64 and #65

Back towards the end of last year, I worked on a layout for Creative Pandemonium that we were to use stripes and a photo that was at least 4 years old. I had a hard time deciding on what photo to use since I don't normally scrap the older pics...if they aren't scrapped within a few months of being printed...the odds aren't in their favor of being picked from the album where they live.

Right Now

Photobucket

Journaling reads: I feel like I am stuck in a rut. I am in serious need of a haircut and a complete make-over. There is never any change from day to day, I am always the same. I really need a "go away" vacation. My work batteries are drained and I need to recharge. Of course, I am thinking of the beach but just land away would work to. I am starting to plan Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. I plan to actually bake this year instead of going the frozen route.

I used Lemonade and Oatmeal Bazzill, Scenic Route Sonoma PP, Arrow and Letters are also Scenic Route. I used a Zip Pen in Chocolate.

We've started up again and our first challenge (#65)for the year was to use Green, Polka Dots and 5 Stickers. This was a challenge for me because I am not a sticker girl anymore. I went through my sticker addiction and am proud to say that I have kicked that habit for the most part but I still had a few Sticko's laying around.

I used Ivy, Leapfrog and Cupcake Bazzill and White CS, Sassafras Lass Winter Wonder "Sprinkes" PP, Ribbon and Ric Rac, Staples, Elsie Epoxy Sticker, Buttons, Sticko Stickers (Sweet Sixteen) and Cats Eye Chalk in Moss. Letters are a mix of Chatterbox, Heidi Swapp and a misc metal letter that was painted with Hot Pink Nail Polish. I used a Martha Stewart (gift...don't ask) Pen in Brick.
