Turning 40

A few weeks ago, I turned 40.  The day was spent at the beach and walking through the stores on the Strand in Galveston.  We went into one store and it was pretty cutely set up and in the back they had books.  I am walking around and I see this book.  I can't believe my eyes because I think automatically "do people who turn 40 forget everything and need to be reminded?"  Well I whipped out my phone and took a pic.  I laughed and said "how lame" than I opened the book and you know what...I want that book.  Its all the things that you should do now that you are 40.  I guess 40 is the magical age that you can start traveling and do things on your bucket list.  I am not there, I still have 2 more years before I have all of the girls out of school and once that happens...look out!

My first Challenge

Today is my turn at Scrapbook Challenges for the DT Debut Challenge.

I challenge you to use Glitter.  Glitter isn't something that I use on my layouts.  Loose glitter and myself don't have the best of relationships. I am the girl who ends up with it in her hair, the corner of her eye and down my shirt even though I sit at the table, never get up and only move my arms a little bit while using it.

From my scrap table

This is my first layout for technically for Scrapbook Challenges.  Its for the 1st sketch of July and my first as a new member of their Design Team.





I keep a little pink origami box on my scrapbook table that I made a couple of years ago for smaller pics or pics that I have no home on a layout yet.  When this sketch came along, of course I freaked a bit because I think the most pics I had put on a layout since I started way back when and was using page guides (remember the plastic ones) is 3.  So I sat here, looking through all my pics and then thought to myself "A-ha!" and reached for the little pink box.  I went exactly like the sketch showed because I needed the challenge and it was hard for me really.

I used Sassafras Lass "Amplify" Marvel, Bazzill in Oatmeal, Red and Kraft, Tim Holtz Distress ink in Black Soot, a scrap piece of lined paper from my stash.  Embellies from MME, a die cut butterfly and I kicked it old school with a Elsie Acrylic Button.  I used Cosmo Cricket Tiny Letters as well as Thickers.  My pens were Zig and Uniball.

This was made with the "I feel pretty" kit from Scraptastic Kit Club found here.  I added a manilla tag cut to a flag shape, butterflies and bling, Tim Holtz Idealogy ChitChat word strips as well as Distress Ink in Black Soot and brads.

Scrapbook Challenge Announcement

Its been quite a lot time since I put myself out there scrapbook wise.  Sitting here about a month ago, reading an email from ScrapScene about the latest and greatest announcements and DT calls...I decided it was time. 

I sat here for almost a hour filling out the application.  Not because it was that hard, because I had a lot to put on there.  When I started adding up my DT time, I got the feeling that I had been around the block for a few years.  I decided with my last DT's ending that I was going to take time for me, scrap for me and take a break if needed.  I didn't need to keep up with the best you have ever seen or anyone else.  I needed to be me.  It took me quite a while and I found Shimelle - she taught me again that there is no right or wrong way, that I didn't need the new stuff to achieve the same look as everyone else.  So I decided that it was time to put me out there again and see if I was good enough in the eyes of others.

It is with great joy that I am proud to tell you today that I am part of Scrapbook Challenges Term B Design Team.  I can't wait to start creating layouts that are meaningful for me and my albums but to maybe, just maybe inspire someone else who is coming back from a hiatus to start creating again.

Stop by and say a great big "HELLO" to all the returning members as well as all the new girls.  I know that we are all ready to get started and work with everyone!

A Long Day

Ever had one of those days that you tell yourself "when I get off of work, I am having a drink"?  Well I do that from time to time and 99% of the time, I don't.  There was a day a few weeks ago that it was a horrible day at work and a horrible drive home.  By the time I pulled in the driveway, I knew I wasn't cooking and we were eating out.  So Robbie and I went out.  I only had one and that was enough.
