So I am behind the times....

With this week the closing of our books at work and everything and its brother, sister and cousin has to be credited to the accounts that returned stuff by 5pm on Friday. This is officially the worst week that I experience monthly...every month. I dread this week all month long. No matter how caught up you are...they know and they send stuff in like it was a recalled item-in massive amounts.

So a few months ago, I broke down and bought a house. No, not that kind of house. I finally bought a Doodlebug house. Now I am sure that I am the last person in the scrapbook world to do this...I have put it off long enough and when I look at the package and it says "2007 doodlebug design, inc" I realize exactly how long I have put it off. I remember falling in love with it when I saw it during a trip to my favorite LSS that is about 50 miles-ish away. I just couldn't bring myself to buy it because it scared me...yes, chipboard at that time scared me. So when I got the email that Scrapsupply was closing its doors and everything was on sale...I jumped on the little house at a discount. (Yes, I know I am on a scrappy diet-but I couldn't help it...it was a moth to a flame kind of thing...)

My goal is to have this little house finished before the end of the month.

Creative Pandemonium #60

This is a layout that I did earlier in the week for the #60 challenge at Creative Pandemonium. We were challenged to use polka dots, an arrow, and 3 journaling spots.



Journaling reads: (top) Amber: This photo was taken the morning after Schlitterbahn. You were so tired and we were all sore from playing the day before. (middle) Vacation this year was so fun. It was the best family vacation we have taken. It was tiring between the drive and the park but it was all so worth it - we are ready to go again :) (bottom) Samantha: This photo was taken the night before we went to Schlitterbahn. You wanted to go to the pool - got all ready only to find the pool closed....so you lounged.

I used French Vanilla and Java Bazzill, Bo Bunny Chocolate Swiss Dots and The Paper Studio Lime Stripes PP, Quickcutz Sheep and Fence, Bo Bunny Licorice Letters, Doodlebug Cupcake Trim, Ribbon, Staples. I used a Chocolate and Black Zig Pen. Sheep are colored w/ map colors and blended.

I also worked on a swap for a friend. I had to make 8-6x6 recipe cards for a salad. Easy peasy but I kept putting it off.



I used Raven, Purple Palasades, Sunbeam, Petal and Pear Bazzill, Brads on the Purple, Pink and Green cards, Buttons on the Yellow, ribbon on all cards. Recipes courtesy of MsPorkChop at allrecipes.com

Get Meaningful Lesson #23

This is a mini album that I did for this weeks lesson on Get Meaningful. It is about "wishes". What we wanted in the past, now and in the future. It could be anything we wanted - anything that makes us say "I wish".

I am going to post the slideshow and then the pages individually so that you can see them close up. I am also going to post what the journaling says and the items used as well this way.

This was way out of my normal element as far as scrapping goes. It took me a day and half to finish, it was made with items from my stash and some that were really old.

This is a Melissa Francis album that was sent to me about a year ago as a prize from a contest on one of the websites that I visit. All paper is from a kit that I bought at a scrapbook garage sale two years ago and it is Basic Grey - the Lucky Collection. I used Chance, Kismet, Karma, Joy, Destiny and Wink along with the tags. The cardstock is by Colormates in Medium Glorious Green, Deep Pretty Pink and Dark Pretty Pink. The ink on the edges of the journaling spots is a Cats Eye Chalk in Charcoal. The weekend is over....

So...another weekend is gone. It seems that I work for the weekend more and more these days only to have it fly by at the speed of light. I never knew what that song "Everybody's working for the weekend" by Loverboy really meant until now. I guess it is true, which age comes knowledge.

So I stepped way out of my box on the upcoming project for Get Meaningful. It will be up and going later this week but here is a sneak of what I submitted.



It took me a day and a half to finish. I have 2 more layouts and a swap (I know, I swore those off) that I am helping a friend out on because of a flaker who left lots of spots open. That is the one thing that I hate about swapping...no control over what happens in the end.

Before I go...I have never been a messy scrapper. I know that there are some that do it all the time but this is new for me. It all started with the album that I did for my co-worker....when will it end? This was taken last night when I had to walk away after sitting all day.



I will be back in a few days with the whole project and a few layouts :) Until then, in the words of my French taking daughter...Au revior

Something Cherished

I made this layout for Lesson #22 "Something Cherished" on Get Meaningful. I really liked this one because I had to find something that I really look forward to planning and going. I know that I should cherish my girls and I do but I wanted to something just a bit different and out of the ordinary for me. I can't believe how "cutesy" this turned out when I finished it or that I used a die cut!

Vacation


Journaling reads: I know that we are very lucky to take vacation pretty much every yr. Growing up we never took vacation & it wasn't until I took the job I have now that we even thought about going somewhere - anywhere. Now - I absolutely can not wait to sit down in front of the computer surfing for our new favorite spot to go. As the years go on and the more places we go I have more memories to cherish. There is still many places I want to see but we will have to wait & see where I am at next.

I used Kraft and Festive Bazzill, Scenic Route Garden Grove collection, Jolee's Epoxy Stickers, Ribbon, The car was cut with Locker Talk (Cricut) and I used Red, Black, Lt Blue, Gray and Yellow scrap Bazzill. I used a Zig Pen to doodle and journal. Letters are by Making Memories.

Mini Album

Here is the mini album that I did for my coworker. The only page that has journaling is the one that I did before I handed it over to have everyone put their memories and well wishes in it. There were 14 pages done on August 30th and I finished the other 6 pages on September 1st. So I am going to adjust my totals over there and that brings me almost to my goal for the year!

I made this album with an American Crafts kit and scrap Bazzill. There is Cat's Eye Chalk, Bling, Brads, Buttons, Ribbon, Bazzill Trims, Misc. Embellishments from Joann's. Fonts are All Mixed Up, George, Opposites Attract and Tear Drop for the Cricut.

Wonderful Surprising News and September Goals

I have to say after many, many attempts and numerous layouts sent in - I am on a Design Team...but wait...wait for it...

Not just one team...TWO!

I sent in 3 DT and 1 Guest DT submissions last month with the mindset that this was my last time for a while because the rejection is not a good feeling. I stalked my email and the blogs all day yesterday. Then last night I was up until 12:30am working on the finishing touches for my co-workers going away scrapbook. I didn't check anything before I went to bed...and I didn't clean my table. I will definately have to take a pic of it because it will never look like that again. I couldn't function by the time I was almost done.

This morning, I dropped Amber off at school (Samantha had track practice at 6:30 - DH took her) and went to McDonald's for my much needed morning coffee. I am sitting in the parking lot adding ice to my coffee and then decided to check my email from my phone. I am scrolling and there is one...I was so scared to open it and when I did I wanted to cry with happiness because someone liked my work! Then I keep scrolling and there is another one and then the tears started flowing and I know that everyone who went by thought I was seriously hurting over something bad...but honestly, it was a good cry!

I now design for (in the order of the time on the emails) Jessica Bree on her Get Meaningful blog and Janelle Richmond for her Creative Pandemonium blog. I am very excited to get started on my duties and to make new friends!
